I wish the resolution was more. It was so much build up and then not a lot of what happens after. Amazing book though and I’m definitely going to read more of her books.

This reminded me a lot of the Ruth Galloway series by Elly Griffiths. Great mystery story with well developed characters and little to no romance. So if you’re looking to just focus on the process and investigation, this would be a great book for you! Although this is book number 11 in the Will Trent series, it was my first. I wasn’t confused nor felt like I was missing anything. I do want to go back and read the others just for more context on who the characters are. I saw this is a show on ABC and am very curious to check it out! Heads up, some scenes are graphic and difficult to read.

This book is definitely not for the light of heart reader. While a great mystery, it does discuss and go into graphic detail of some very real and difficult topics. This mystery felt slightly different from others that I have read in that it really felt like we were going through the investigative process with the main characters the whole way. And if the reader was able to dissect the characters who were suspects along the way, the “plot” at the end may or may not have been as surprising as one would hope. All around it was a great read.
