I didn’t mind the characters, I would be happy reading the rest of the series with them. I did accidently join in book 11 of 12 so my mistake. Sometimes it felt like there was a lot more I wish I knew but it still definitely worked as a standalone. The writing style was pretty good nothing too impressive but it told me the story well without any confusions or messed up pacing. The plot itself was a tad triggering for me. It was hard to read that much about - grape - it also bothered me that they put it across that no men deal with it, like when faith said that with her son Jeremy she will only have to worry about heartbreak but with her daughter Emma she’s worried about all the things men would do. And yes that is a very serious issue but just because it’s more common for woman doesn’t take away from the fact that there are horrible woman and men out there that will do the same to boys and men, and I just wished that they’d touched on that because it’s disgusting and horrible and so many people are ignorant to that fact. Next point is that there are SO many names to remember. I like that they treated me as a smart reader but I’m not THAT smart so a subtle clue in the text to how we know this character in the text would probably help , and I’d have to reread sections less. It wasn’t a book that I felt like I had to flip through the pages and I had to know the answer, I was still a bit curious but eh. Also the twist didn’t match the character I think. I thought it was a trick but I finished the book and turned out it wasn’t. There was just a few questions I had about the characters after the twist but yeah but yeah not a bad book, a bit of a slower one for a crime movie.
