Infertility issues were handled in a one-sided patriarchal way without honest communication or respect for the feelings of others. The conflict was drawn out to the point any sane man would have left and a sad plot twist made the book too long to be enjoyable. I think the caricature of 'evil Mom' was created to explain our heroine's focus on being seen as perfect over being honest. Kristin objectifies and abuses Josh, which isn't resolved in spite of the high page count, and the whole book left me feeling sad.

I've heard lots of mixed reviews about this book and now that I'm finished, I can understand why. I know some people hated the ending, but it didn't bother me, especially after reading the author's note. However, I can see where some readers wouldn't appreciate the ending. TW: Infertility

Overall, the book was fine - didn't hate it, didn't love it. It was a bit more serious/depressing than I was expecting so that probably affected my rating the most. It just didn't flow as seamlessly as it could have. We go from standard romance plot between the MCs to the aftermath of the Serious Thing that happened to a supporting character and it was a little jarring...like, wait, why are we suddenly switching to contemporary fiction with the romance being the side storyline?

The MCs were fine as individuals, but the constant back and forth of their relationship status was annoying at times. It felt like a very long road to get to the ending and that's not my preference for romance books. I like them quick and light, and that wasn't this book. But for what it was, it was good, so balancing my expectations & preferences with the actual book, I have it a 3 star rating.

Loved loved loved this book. Laughed and cried my way through finishing in one night. Josh is the perfect book boyfriend I love him. And I saw so much of myself in Kristen - the velociraptor was so real.  Although she could have talked to him earlier! Abby also handled the infertility conversation very well, but I kind of wish
she didn’t get pregnant at the end because so many women don’t get that miracle.

um.... idk..... i'm very picky with friends to lovers and this one was just two strangers who became friends just so they can fuck each other though he did have to wait bcs she HAD A BF (he was shitty but uh still pls make a decision) ?? her personality was just having an infertility problem i know it's bad but i just hate the fact that she keeps mentioning it in every chapter.... and his personality was just being a firefighter. the end of the book was so all of a sudden though it did make me a lil emo but uh the rest wasn't something i expect from an abby jimenez book
