THIS BOOK IS JUST SO DARN CUTE!
Full disclosure - as a neurotypical white girl, I can't speak fully on whether the MFC's autism is represented well or not, BUT, I appreciated the narrative as well as the diverse cast of characters this book has.
I absolutely adore Stella & Michael. I loved each of their POVs, and they have some absolutely delightful dialogues and absolutely steamy horizontal interactions.
"You're thinking about work, aren't you? Here I am talking about replacing the underwear I tore having hot bathroom sex with you, and you're zoning out to think about econometrics."
My only complaint comes from the always-included 'conflict' that seems to be necessary in contemporary romances. It's not my favourite trope, especially since it always occurs around the 75% mark, and then gets a quick wrap-up for the HEA. I'd much rather have a conflict earlier in the story and have more time in the relationship post-conflict than the 'hands-dusted-all-good-now' sort of sitch. I will say though, that the post-conflict scenes in this novel were absolutely heartbreaking, for both Stella & Michael - their separate anguish is devastating.
All in all, a lovely, quick read!
Fav quotes:
How did one not obsess over something wonderful? How did one like something a reasonable amount?
If you can't stand being with a woman who's more successful than you, then you leave her alone. She's better off without you. If you actually love her, then know the value of that love and make it a promise. That is the only thing she needs from you.
No wonder my mom likes you so much. It's very Vietnamese to be modest about sex. I didn't even know the correct Vietnamese word for girl parts until I was twenty. Most people call it a little bird. My aunt refers to it as a sweet potato. Those aren't the right words for yours.
