1.5

This picks up right after the cliffhanger of book one.

I almost DNFed this one. It was a very frustrating read. I hated Cash and was incredibly annoyed at Grace's lack of self-respect. Their relationship is incredibly toxic, Cash is toxic. The book duet could have been one book. It is so repetitive with too many unnecessary side plots (Cash's dad, Grace's mom, Chase's mom, Cat's arranged marriage, the business merger, etc...).

Cash is a walking red flag, and not the good kind. He is manipulative, controlling, and volatile. He does not deserve Grace's forgiveness at all. He jumps to conclusions and blames her when she did NOTHING wrong! He lashes out at her and attempts to destroy her business and reputation. That alone should make her run in the opp site direction! He is a coward who tries to tear people down.  He is immature and lacks basic communication skills. When things go wrongs, due of his lack of communication skills, he just blames others.

I will give him props for the therapy, that was big. Though he did not attend it long enough for it to make that much of a difference. He needs years of therapy to unpack all that shit before he would be mentally healthy enough for a relationship.

Also, for what he did, his grovelling was not enough.

Grace also annoyed me so much in this book. She is supposed to be this strong, independent women (hell, that's why she got a divorce), but she just kept running back to Cash knowing he would continue to hurt her! Why is she so self-destructive? He treated her like literal garbage and she just kept running back to him. Where is her self-respect?! She deserved so much better. Their relationship was more obsession than love IMHO. Hayden was right there! I wish she had chosen Hayden, he was 1000x better. Ugh

The ending was unnecessary.
the kidnapping, bombing, and memory loss
like why? It didn't add anything to the plot at all.

1.5 stars because I loved Tessa. That is all.
