Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
5.0
It’s so rare that a sequel is as good, if not better than, the first book, but Crooked Kingdom certainly falls into this category. As impossible as it sounds following the events of Six Of Crows, the stakes in Crooked Kingdom are even higher as the crows attempt to best Ketterdam’s biggest players. I was hooked, to say the least.
I loved how much we got to see these characters grow even in such a short period of time. I didn’t think it was possible to love these characters anymore. They were already such rich, complex, characters, and Crooked Kingdom certainly added to that. We also got to see just how strong their bonds had become from the first book. I loved watching them open up to and help one another through their own personal struggles. It was one of the best examples of a found family I’ve ever seen.
To say this book was a rollercoaster of emotions would be an understatement. Chapter 39 and 40 broke my heart and had me sobbing. I would like to pretend that never happened. The ending scene between Kaz and Inej is definitely one of the sweetest things I’ve read and then I was crying tears of happiness.
My only complaint is that there wasn’t more. Over five hundred pages and it still wasn’t enough!
