I picked this book up near the end of December, not even realizing that it’s set around the winter solstice!

This novella bridges the events of A Court of Wings and Ruin with A Court of Silver Flames. After the war, Feyre, Rhys, and their friends are working hard to rebuild the Night Court. Each is recovering in their own way from the war but they all come together to celebrate Feyre’s birthday and her first winter solstice as High Lady.

I’ve heard very opposing opinions on this book, but I really enjoyed it. It probably helped that I just happened to pick it up between winter solstice and Christmas! I appreciated that the trauma of the war wasn’t just brushed over. Maas shows how the lasting effects impact each character. I also enjoyed the simplicity of just spending time with this found family that I’ve grown to care so much for over the first three books of the series.
