Dreaming of Home by Caitlyn O'Leary
4.0
This is part of the Long Road Home series, which is multi-authored. However this book is closely linked with the Jasper Creek series by the same author.
Blessing is at it again. From her perch at the USO in Atlanta's airport, she is dispensing wisdom and warm feelings for the future! When Kai happens upon her at the instance of his demon physiotherapist, he's told that his traumatic past may have led to a happier ending!
Kai didn't have the best of childhoods in remote Alaska, with an even remoter and casually cruel father. When he learns that he had more family than he originally thought he heads to Jasper Creek to try and find them. Small Town Tennessee, where everyone knows not only your name but also your business - Jasper Creek appeals to him and he soon fits in with the locals. Then he learns that his brother rents their childhood home out and he would like to meet the new tenant and see if the place stirs up memories.
However, meeting Marlowe stirs up more than memories. He soon can't get enough of the high school Maths teacher. She's running from something and when danger comes calling again, Kai inserts himself as her interim bodyguard.
There are plenty of thrills along the way to their HEA! Marlowe's dog is the epitome of a "good girl", she steals every scene she is in! As usual the Jasper Creek folk rally to the cause and Marlowe has never had so many protectors. Kai also calls on his larger special operative network for assistance, allowing us to get a little visit with some of our favourites. The action sequences blend so well into the overarching romance. Can't wait to see what befalls his brother and a certain Avery sister!
