The New Plant Parent: Develop Your Green Thumb and Care for Your House-Plant Family by Darryl Cheng
informative
4.0
I was very excited to get a copy of this book after hearing about it on the By the Book podcast! Like many people, I really got into houseplants during the pandemic. I had several houseplants prior to 2020, but I’ve really branched out and added a few new varieties to my collection.
I really appreciated the author’s approach to plant care. There is SO much information online about each and every type of plant and it can be very overwhelming! Cheng, who is an engineer, has simplified plant care to cover the basics that all plants need, regardless of their type, and instructs us to use our own observations to adjust care accordingly. His approach is straightforward and he reminds us that plants are living things. They will lose leaves, they won’t always look perfect, sometimes they’ll die, and that’s all okay!
