A Merry Little Meet Cute by Sierra Simone, Julie Murphy

5.0

“This feeling was something new, something that sank deeper into my body than physical lust, deeper than knowing I was craved. This was a type of what I’d never known anyone could have for me.”

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I think this is going to be my favorite holiday read, ever. I LOVED this book y’all. I’ve been a Julie Murphy fan for years—my friends know I can talk about Dumplin’ for hours. So I had high hopes for this book, especially seeing as Sierra Simone is a beloved author. I’ve read her Misadventures of a Curvy Girl, so I had expectations for this book that were ONE BILLION PERCENT EXCEEDED! The concept is immaculate and the delivery was incredible. I laughed so much throughout the book, and overall I found it to be a damn delight. I’ll re-read it again for sure! Fans of Julie Murphy & Sierra Simone should definitely give it a read, but if you love Olivia Dade, Talia Hibbert, hallmark after dark books, or general holiday cheer—this should be at the top of your list. It’s naughty and nice and a true freaking delight.

Bee Hobbes (aka Bianca von Honey) is a successful fat porn star with hopes to start mainstream acting. When her producer needs to replace his lead actress for his PG Christmas film, he turns to Bee for help. She’ll have to act alongside her childhood crush—the ex-boy band star Nolan Shaw. Nolan is trying to shed his bad boy reputation so he can get more lucrative jobs to help him support his family. It’s all going to plan, until he recognizes Bee from her work as Bianca von Honey because he’s been a loyal subscriber for years. The two hit it off right away, and begin sneaking around to hide their budding relationship. But is their connection enough? Is it more important than protecting their secrets and reputations?

🌟FAT REP: Impeccable. There’s so much fat politic imbedded into this story. Bee’s character addresses how fatness and desirability intersect, while also addressing the need for fat people to be loved out loud.

I cannot recommend this one enough, y’all. I’m obsessed.
