The Only One Left by Riley Sager
4.0
4 Stars
As always, Sager sets up an intriguing premise and slowly reveals all the different and contributing contingencies of a decades long mass murder. This delves back and forth revealing a slow build of what precipitated that tragic night and how caretaker Kit steadfastly unravels the mystery as she cares for the only survivor.
I’m grateful that the MC was not unreliable this time around. Instead, Kit was persistently insistent on finding out the truth, and what she discovers was twisty unsettling over and over and over again.
Not quite, but close to usurping [b:The House Across the Lake|58909880|The House Across the Lake|Riley Sager|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1639618949l/58909880._SY75_.jpg|92821047] as my favorite.
