I preordered this book as soon as I finished reading the first in the series! Sarah J. Maas has definitely turned into an auto-buy author for me.
This book picks up not long after the first one ended. We follow Bryce, Hunt, and Ruhn, along with many other familiar characters from the first novel but we are also introduced to some new, exciting characters too. Bryce and Hunt are attempting to start a somewhat normal life together after the events of the first book, but an unexpected visitor who brings more questions and mysteries sucks them into another dangerous mission.
I have mixed feelings about this one. There were parts and storylines that I absolutely loved and then others that I felt could have been left out or shortened. This book is over 800 pages long after all! As usual, the world-building is fantastic and I adore the characters Maas creates. I especially fell in love with Ruhn in this one. But similar to the first novel, I feel like the length is unnecessary.
