The Secret Hook-Up by Pippa Grant
4.5
We're back in the land of the craziest, friendliest and sweetest Baseball and Hockey teams! Copper Valley sure grows more than it's fair share of eccentrics!
Duncan is like optimism personified. He's a lover and supporter of women. He doesn't see them as inferior or weaker than him. And Addie - well she just got all his engines revving but he scared off.
Now he has a second chance to stake his claim and get her to see that he can be just what she needs - he just has to buy her at an auction first!
Addie has seen what one sided relationships can do to a person and she refuses to become a younger version of her late mother. But can she really go through life without putting her heart on the line, even once. Duncan is about to test just how strong her lone wolf tendencies really are.
Duncan is the perfect BBF - he's smart, he's loyal, he's funny, he has flaws and recognises them - what's more? He sees Addie and all her anxieties and relishes the chance to show her how unfounded they are with him. Addie is very much a woman in a still predominantly man's world and she is such a shining star. She hasn't lost herself too much but she still fears being seen as using her gender to get where she has.
Duncan is Addie's biggest supporter and at no time did he want to outshine her or hide her brilliance - he wants Addie to be out there, showing other women what they can do. Can I also say that this book is so mental health positive, both MC's talk about therapy and are determined to do what's best for them and each other.
Look out for the epic elevator scene! These two are exceptionally talented at finding places to "canoodle".
