My summary: Wyatt Preston is stunned when his fiancée Cadance dumps him the night before their wedding. After wallowing for weeks over it, Wyatt realizes that he’s just as devastated about losing out on his chance at his grandfather’s cabin. His grandfather willed the cabin to the first grandchild to be married for a year, and now Wyatt’s evil cousin is engaged and closing in on claiming the cabin with plans to raze it. Desperate to claim the cabin for himself, Wyatt decides to woo Aubree Rowley, the owner of the other half of a farm that Wyatt’s late brother left him, into a marriage with the deal of giving her the whole farm afterwards and he’ll get his cabin. Aubree has been trying to stay afloat and save her late sister’s farm. Having dealt with a lifetime of abuse and heartache, the last thing she wants to deal with is the annoyingly persistent yet handsome Wyatt. When she finally gives in to Wyatt’s crazy scheme, it doesn’t take long for their feelings to become real.
My thoughts: Looking for a fake dating, small town, marriage of convenience, reverse grumpy/sunshine book with some spice? This is a good one. I fell in love with Almond Bay and the Rowley’s in the first book of this series. Although I found Wyatt and Aubree’s redemptive love story to be sweet, this was a pretty slow read for me. I was kinda bored in the first quarter of the book and just didn’t feel very invested in the story. It picked up for me around halfway. I empathized with both Wyatt and Aubree and I was rooting for a happily ever after, but it just felt like it took a really long time to get there, although it was overall enjoyable and witty.
Graphic: Cursing and Sexual content
Minor: Child abuse and Physical abuse
