Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
5.0
Well, this was quite a ride.
I absolutely adored this book.
Riddled with Harry Potter references turned on their heads, you either hate it ot love it, I guess!
Carry On essentially is the heroic story of Simon Snow, discovering who he really is (The Chosen One?), what he has to do to save the world of mages and further exploring the relationship with his roommate and arch enemy Baz along the way.
I absolutely loved this book because:
- metafiction on Harry Potter
- takes a hero-story and turns it on its head
- diversity makes it more realistic
Negative points for me were:
- sometimes the HP references were a little too obvious, but I guess that was intentional.
