Jace is determined to ensure the safety of his new team and family.  They may be a bunch of misfits,  the survivors from decimated teams, but they are highly effective and The Company are happy to keep them on the frontline - just as long as it suits the organisation of course!

Jace and the others decide that having a back-up plant to your back-up plan isn't a bad thing and decide to imbed a journalist with the team, in the hopes of levelling the playing field and having a "day in the life" style documentary in case knowledge of them ever leaks.

Enter Neve - investigative reporter, veteran of war reporting and friend of Bruce!  She is tough, stubborn and determined to unearth the truth.  She is quite aware that Jace has been tagged to "handle" her but she is also aware that there is much more to this story than she's been told and is justifiably horrified by what the team have gone through!

I love how seamlessly Neve fits in with the team.  She's protective of Kit whilst still being intrigued by his story.  She doesn't treat the others like their animals or experiments.  She is fun, witty and sometimes too brave!  She and Jace just spark off each other and even when he's incensed with her need to get involved and help when they're under fire, he also can't help be attracted to her bravery.

The vampires are once again making life difficult for the team and the plans set afoot are completely diabolical.  The bare-faced treachery by the humans in the know is astounding!

I cannot wait to see what happens next!
