Rules for Vanishing by Kate Alice Marshall

Wow what a way to kickstart October with this incredibly spooky and creepy paranormal read! I'm a huge horror fan and don't usually get freaked out but this book continuously gave me goosebumps and scared the crap out of me. It is based on the ghostly legend of a little girl, Lucy Gallows, who went missing in the woods who every year on the anniversary of her disappearance beckons people to play her game. And in 2016 Becca Donoghue and her boyfriend go in search of the paranormal legend of Lucy only to never be seen again. Then a year later her sister, Sara, gathers everyone in their friendship group to go and find Becca and bring her home but what lays in wait for them is not only true but deadly terrifying! This book had me hooked from the very beginning and at some points I had to put the book down for a little while because it spooked me so much. As I said I'm a huge horror fan and the writing style and format of this read is just amazing. It mesmerises you and keeps you so enthralled by telling the story through written testimony's, video evidence, text messages and interviews. Overall, if you are a horror fan or love the paranormal then you need to read this book. I can't recommend it highly enough and I'm so glad I held out to read it this month for spooktober
