This was a clever follow-up to Lavender House. It was nice to watch Andy settle in to his new job and community. It felt like his active investigation wasn't the main point of the book, but it was the way we learn about Andy.

Even though this the second book in a series, it could read as a standalone. Elise and Gene become main characters in this book but understanding snd connecting with the characters isn't directly tied to Lavender House.
