With Kingfisher’s characteristic tension-building pace and balanced narrative that will make you laugh as much as it makes you shudder, Kingfisher’s novella length retelling of Edgar Allan Poe’s classic 1839 short story, “The Fall of the House of Usher”, is both bewitching and atmospheric. Told from the perspective of Alex Easton, a non-binary retired soldier, and featuring a great cast of supporting characters in a Gothic and mysterious setting, I devoured this in a matter of hours.
