In this novel, we meet Sewanee (pronounced swan-ee), an actress turned audiobook narrator. Sewanee has sworn off narrating romance novels, but when a popular romance novelist she worked with in the past asks her to voice one last romance novel, Sewanee agrees because the money she earns will help her pay for her grandmother’s care. For the project, Sewanee is paired with Brock McNight, the hottest male narrator in the genre, and also someone who hides behind his pseudonym. As they work, they form an unexpected connection through emails and texts. But real life is not a romance novel, so is there really any way that this will lead to a HEA?

I really enjoyed this romance! Both Sewanee’s growth and her relationship with her best friend felt real and grounded. Her easy connection with Brock via email and text was relatable because my husband and I were long-distance while we were dating and engaged. Sewanee’s mom and her mom’s boyfriend were such great side characters! I loved their gentle guidance and advice. It was really gratifying to see Sewanee’s personal growth and the growth in her relationships throughout this book. Gotta love a romance with a great character arc!
