Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
5.0
If I could give more than 5* I would.
Best book I have read this year, if not in a few years actually. Story engages you from page one to the last word and although I wanted to know what happened I didn't actually want to finish the book.
It's witty, sad, happy, funny and absolutely relevant.
Elizabeth Zott has it all - she's attractive and intelligent - but she was born into the wrong era. In the 60s, women belonged in kitchen and nurseries raising children. They certainly didn't belong into a chemistry research lab. But that doesn't stop Elizabeth - she is quite literary unstoppable.
The story makes you revaluate equality today and although we are far from perfect on that subject, we have certainly moved on.
Everyone should read this book! It feels like a piece of history, it's empowering and uplifting - just a complete masterpiece.
