Really enjoyed reading this.
It's a slower paced story, but there's enough going on in the story that kept me entertained. The story handles real-life topics such as grief and lightly touches upon emotional neglect. Despite that, it never gets uncomfortable or really dark.
It's a bit of a niche comparison, but this story very much reminded me of the videogame Stardew Valley, and the thorns were giving me Disney Dreamlight Valley.
I would say that in the last 100-150 pages, the pace picks up, and there were parts that gave me goosebumps because it was so beautifully painful.
Keir, I felt so bad for him. He's broody, but he's been through so much. I'm happy that Allison didn't give up on him.
The book ends on a happy for now note.
