The Screaming Staircase by Jonathan Stroud

5.0

I might would fear for my life if I wanted to try to give The Screaming Staircase fewer than five stars, as I've come to know it as Garce's... babygirl, or something. Well enough for me, though, this book absolutely deserves it. The writing style is fitting for its younger intended audience, but never does it feel diminished in quality because of it; it simply just makes it an easier read. I enjoyed the atmosphere that was constantly set upon each scene. The spookiness was done perfectly, some of the scenes downright bone-chilling. The characters had depth and were, just the same, lovable. This book has certainly called me to try and finish the show, and I certainly try to get around to the sequel as soon as I can.
