The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston
4.0
THE LESS YOU KNOW THE BETTER
This is your warning, if you haven’t read this yet and want to, don’t read a damn thing about it before. Just go forth and enjoy the ride.
Anyway
I went into this completely blind, didn’t even read the back blurb or anything. So when I tell you ROLLERCOASTER bitch??? I was TOSSED around and my mouth was AGAPE.
The way Ashley Poston wrote about death was so incredibly poignant and real. She went from big raw emotion, to death in the details of mundanity. This book brought up so many emotions of my own experiences with death and I felt so seen GAH incredible.
The romance was a bit lacking, I wish we had more one on one time with Flo and Ben. There secret pockets of time together were so cute, and having more of those would’ve eradicated my eye roll of how jumpy they went from strangers to talkin’ dirty in the B&B.
I also will say that the writing in this HOLLERS millennial. Prepare yourself for corny puns and the words “doggo” and “hipster” to be strewn around un-ironically. It didn’t bother me, but it’s worth noting for the cheugy police.
And finally……………………….. I wish there was more spice
