I’m being more lenient in my rating specifically because I have a soft spot for Riley Sager and this is a vast improvement over his last novel.
What I liked: we’ve finally gotten away from the trope of the FMC sleeping with the bad guy. Yay. At no point did I know where the story was going. I loved the parallels between the main character and the story she was unraveling from the past.
What I didn’t like: the last 25% of this book made my head spin/hurt. Everything was wrapped up and there are no plot holes that I can see, but it was hard to get my head around all the moving pieces, especially concerning the periphery characters. This could have benefitted from one less “twist.”
Overall I’m glad to keep reading anything Riley Sager puts in my hands, but this is definitely not his best work.
