I was past due for a romance and had recently purchased this at a used book sale so I decided to pick it up!
This is the first book of Julia Quinn’s beloved series that has been turned into the hit Netflix show, Bridgerton. We meet Daphne Bridgerton, the eldest of the Bridgerton daughters who is still unwed. Upon meeting an old schoolmate of her brother’s (who also happens to be Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings), the pair decide to team up to make the season of balls ahead of them more tolerable. Soon the pair become closer than either expected and Simon must face his feelings about his father if he’s ever to be happy.
As a fan of the Netflix show, I was excited to read this! It was definitely the fun romance I was looking for. Simon and Daphne’s banter was so fun to read and I loved the antics of the Bridgerton brothers as they shamelessly do what they think necessary to protect their sister. I see more Bridgerton novels in my future!
