Metal Slinger by Rachel Schneider

Jovie/Brynn is a complicated character. I was never quite 100% sure of her or her motivations and I was kind of right to be! Acker is also a bit an idiot. At times he just glosses over horrific situations and blatantly ignores an assault on Brynn when she is supposed to be bonded to him. My very human hubby would have crushed anyone who did that to me!
I found this an odd duck of a book. Sometimes I felt the world description was too much and at other times it felt it could be fleshed out a bit more. Same with the characters - sometimes I felt more could have happened in a scene, I mean I love a slow burn but one particular scene felt like it went on forever, with the characters having not done a lot!
It hadn't been my favourite book of the year I'm afraid, but I'd give book 2 a go just in case it's a case of right book wrong time.
