Grim and Bear It by Juliette Cross
5.0
Clara is walking, talking sunshine. She just radiates kindness to all. She has her heart set on a tall, brooding, tattooed Grim. But the daft man is not getting her hints - so time to up her game with book club invite and some cupcakes!
Henry has withdrawn so far into himself, he no longer really wants to "people". His sole source of sunshine is Clara. He feels like a stalker but he can't seem to make himself stop - even becoming her number one fan on her blog! But once he finally takes a hint and drops heart first into things - he's never letting go. Not even death and the hereafter could part them.
There is no wishy-washy, will they won't they with these two. It's 0-100mph and keeps on going. We learn more about Henry's tortured childhood, fractured family and his stupendous powers. He thinks he's the Beast to Clara's Belle but there is nothing beastly about him. He's kind, considerate, growly, protective, possessive and underestimates himself. He also has a hidden, dominant side - which comes completely out of the blue when you realise that other bombshell he dropped!
I read this in one fell swoop and laughed, cried and ranted. I wanted to tear asunder the big bad and watch them suffer. My bloodthirsty side sure come out in force! I also had a giggle at the Grim Prison being called Glasgow - my hometown!
The epilogue gave as that little glimpse of the future - letting us no all ends well for the extended Savoie family.
