This is the March read for the Modern Mrs. Darcy Book Club. I chose to listen to the audiobook (narrated by the author) because I was worried I wouldn’t finish it in time to discuss it with the book club.
This memoir focuses on the sudden death of the author’s husband when he was fairly young and the aftermath for her and their two sons. She also spends much of the memoir describing the kind of person her husband was and their relationship.
It is so hard to rate a memoir so please take my star rating with a grain of salt. The style of this memoir just wasn’t for me. The author is a poet by trade so the style is less narrative and includes short sentences and a few very short chapters made up of only a couple of lines. I did enjoy learning about the cultures they embraced in their home and the cultures and countries in which her husband grew up and lived.
