A former child tv star turned palaeontologist, her Bridezilla sister, her former momager, a destination wedding from hell and a broody Best Man who thinks the wedding is as bad an idea as she does!
Thea's sister is like a diva on wheels, dropping insults left and right and expecting Thea to comply with every weird and wonderful rule of the wedding contracts (yes the wedding is sponsored to the nth degree and being screened pretty much live on tv). Kade is broody, traumatised, crime statistic spouting and sick of trying to tell his brother the wedding is a mistake.
These two fractured souls really do make a remarkable unit. They bring each other out of their comfort zones, see things from a fresh perspective...and are oh so flaringly hot for each! They are flawed and that makes me love them even more. They spout dinosaur and crime statistics when they get nervous, they despair over their siblings and both have questionable relationships with their parents.
Everything that was bad about the 80's is show horned into the wedding by the producers so there are plenty of opportunities for cringe-inducing memories if you are old enough to remember them the first time around like me! FWB becomes something more messy.
Thea has a superb small but tight friend group who see her for who she is. Their therapist is a wise woman and I loved the healthy respect they had for each others mental health.
Snarky, witty banter, well written scenes dealing with anxiety, and trauma responses. The various ways Thea and Kade escape the mayhem together is awesome. Some genuinely emotive moments. Looking forward to the next in the series!
