Escape Clause by Cara Bristol
4.0
Cinderelle-esque romp in the stars!
Hope needs to escape her odious family who are willing to basically sell her into marriage with the local mayor - who may or may not have killed his wife! She realises Cosmic Mates may be her escape and she can end the marriage, no harm no foul after a year.
Krogan is used to being in charge. He likes order and efficiency but he needs to show his people that he is stable. Cosmic Mates provides him the mate he needs and if they don't work out, well he only needs to be married for a short time until things settle down.
Krogan was a bit indifferent to poor Hope at first. He basically dropped her in the middle of a new planet, with no way to communicate with the locals or even a basic understanding of their technology. I would not have let him off that easily! He treated their wedding almost like a business meeting - I mean I know it was supposed to be temporary for both of them but crikey a bit of romance, man!
Fun, flirty, steamy read. Perfect length to fit in a lunch hour or a few hours in the evening. I would have loved to see more of the relationship coming together - it was a wee but rushed but nothing that would stop me reading the rest of the series!
I'm looking forward to book 2!
