Clementine: Book One by Tillie Walden, Tillie Walden
2.0
Hmmm…
I’m not sure that this was a necessary story. I’ve read parts of The Walking Dead but Clementine is a part of the video game series. Now, I wouldn’t normally care about stepping into a graphic novel that is an extension of another medium; HOWEVER, there isn’t enough back story to bring in readers who aren’t familiar with her. As someone who’s not, this read like a random character thrown into the world with no explanation. It made no sense. There was little to no character development and the deaths and violence seemed unwarranted. Even Kirkman has acknowledged that given the chance, he would go back and change things. This felt as if it tried to follow the footsteps of the original series too much which is strange considering Kirkmans own feelings about things. Either way, I’ll be reading book 2 for my book club but I don’t I’ll enjoy that either.
