⚠️ TW: abuse, murder ⚠️ This horror novella follows Grace, a 15 year old, who is at the end of her tether with the endless cruelty subjected on her family by her mother, Vivienne, and the passive nature of her father, Noah, who over the years has been worn down to the shell of man. And for this New Year's they will be serving up a bit more than a family meal. This short story is such a great debut by Bruce and I always find it really hard to get short stories right because of the word count constraints but he absolutely smashed it and produced a chillingly gripping page turner with a fantastic twist at the end. His writing even allowed you to form a connection with the characters despite it being so short which I think is an immennse compliment to him as an author. Overall, if you are looking for a short horror novella then I highly recommend this and I cannot wait to read his future works.
