β€œAs we duel, as we chat, there's an understanding that "your black is not my black" and "your weird is not my weird" and "your beautiful is not my beautiful," and that's okay. It' brings tears to my eyes if I think about it too long.”

During the day Keira is one of the only black students in her school, but by night she is the creator of a whole other world called SLAY.
But when real word and the other world collide accusations are made and Keira has to make choices she didn’t think she would need to.

What a hard hitting debut novel. This YA novel has it all, strong Black Females, modern day video game systems, very real social issues. At times this book made me uncomfortable which is great, some topics should. Highly recommend.
