Falling for Nola by Katie Reus

4.0

This is a perfectly formed slow-burn, fade to black but still steamy novella.  It takes place in the Redemption Harbor world but does not need to be read in chronological order.

Nola has had it with her new neighbour.  Him and that big motorcycle of his are tromping all over her last nerve!  But when she goes to confront him she gives him more than an earful - he gets an eyeful of her assets to boot!

Kayce is a local firefighter and uses rides on his bike to decompress but he admits that he wasn't taking the neighbours into account when he was revving along on his bike.  That first in-his-face encounter with Nola has left him reeling.  But every time they try to get past the neighbours stage to the "more stage" something always seems to crop up.

I love this little nugget!  It's heartwarming, steamy but nothing really happens on the page - there is plenty of yearning and almost-but-not-quite.  I love that even though the story itself is really short, the slow burn romance for these two stretches over a few months.

Kayce is sweetly attentive, fixer of minor inconveniences and listener of audio books!  Nola is feisty, flirty and funny and isn't afraid of letting rip when she has to!
