How the Hitman Stole Christmas by Katie Reus

5.0

This is a wonderful take on protector romance.  Talk about a morally grey MC!

We met Elliana in the Red Stone Security Series.  There was a hint of the slightly skewiff attraction that she had with her mysterious neighbour.  Well, now we get to see that gloriously weird, off-centre, slightly stalkery relationship up close!

Elliana and Theo have been basically partaking in a voyeuristic/exhibitionist fling via drone for months!  But when Elliana finally plucks up the courage to talk to the handsome neighbour, she finds out way more about his business than is healthy.  But Theo's belief that she is the one for him solidifies when she doesn't immediately phone the cops on him.  But then he ups the ante and decides she needs a bit of Christmas cheer and decorates her garden in gloriously tacky fashion!

Danger comes calling when Theo's employment and Elliana's safety collide and of course, the only sensible thing to do is kidnap Elliana!

This was such a change from Red Stone.  There is way more humour and the plot may be slightly bonkers but in the best possible way.  It's like a romcom gone nuts and it played in my head like a movie.  I was completely sucked into the mad world of hitmen in a family business, who cook and love Christmas and are completely and utterly smitten with their neighbour!

Elliana is the perfect grump, with a reason to hate Christmas and families.  The banter is epically funny, on point and oh my lord the chemistry! Theo most definitely falls first and hard and never doubts that Elliana is his. He's the perfect balance of protective/possessive with a massive does of sweetness.

I am so invested in this series now.  I need to see how a certain redhead and Theo's hitman bestie get entangled!
