Huh. Well that packed an emotional punch I wasn't expecting in a mere 37 pages.
Stiles and Derek have a dysfunctional relationship - one that has been full of secrets, not communicating, and wanting what they perceive they can't have. Of course that's all assumption on both their parts. They never learn, do they?
This was reminiscent of all those time travel Stereks we've read. A bit discombobulating, a whole lot of desperate want - all of which leaves you with a shit ton of optimistic outlook to see that desired future come true.

So… Stiles comes back after being gone for a long time.
Derek isn't exactly thrilled to see him.
That doesn't mean they don't get it on.
Having only a very cursory knowledge of Sons of Anarchy I felt one didn't need to know the show to understand and enjoy this fic. I admit I typically don't like the MC trope because of the oft loose morals in all areas of life. As a warning, there might be some things you don't want to read about our beloved couple so beware.
But this was different in a refreshing sort of way and hot. Yeah... very very hot.

If you're looking for a great canon based fic then look no further than this and it's sequel [b:Something More|25357831|Something More|bigboobedcanuck|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/book/50x75-a91bf249278a81aabab721ef782c4a74.png|45100250].
Stiles is attacked by the nefarious alpha pack and is saved by Derek. Of course their "not friends" relationship changes, and they start to see each other differently. Shared past pain and current secrets bring them closer together and the results are not only obviously hot, but tender and intimate.
This was a very smart, affecting, and emotional story. What stands out the most is Stiles's voice - his sharp wit and his spot on observational humor. Derek's own fragile vulnerability was handled with utmost care here too. These two fit perfectly as always - and this was a fabulous telling and showing of that.

Apparently Kendall McKenna has a type and this is it. What you get is a detailed and I'm assuming realistic look at military life and some may find that boring. I say "cheers!" because apparently tough, stoic alphas in combat will suffice almost every time for me. I've said before too that this author has written some of the best smex I've read and I'll say it again. Though this is her earlier work, it still didn't disappoint. This is pretty much like her werewolf series without the paranormal elements - so if you liked that, this should be a no brainer. I only wish it was longer with more smex!
