Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

This was a super cute, quick read that I got given for a review. It's about a grandmother at a retirement home called Diamond Cove, who is all about setting up her great-grandson on a date, except it's with the wrong woman. The woman that he actually likes finds out about the date and becomes broken hearted, unbeknownst to Grandma Betty. This plays out to her learning the truth and then divulging a new plan with the other retirement home residence. It is just cute and quirky and a light summer read. Heck, you can even read it in the winter and pretend you're in Florida yourself!
I got this book from HiddenGems, and when I began reading it, it was pretty great... but there are definitely grammatical errors, and at one point, it seemed a whole sentence was missing. There are also conflicting passages, and I had to reread to make sure I didn't read it wrong the first time. Still plowed through, and I do like how it all flows together despite the flaws. Conrad James is an undercover FBI agent who falls in love with the woman he is protecting. There is intrigue, underlying tensions, and I love the aspect of physical health that is added with the mother.
Overall, I think it was a good book, but the grammatical errors throughout were pretty bad, especially towards the end of the book. The dirty talk during the sex scenes as well was a little much. It just seemed slightly ridiculous. I'm not sure if people actually really talk to each other like that.. LOL but okay...
This book is by Jennifer Harlow, and I picked it up randomly in my local library and can not say that I am disappointed! The book is well written and captivated my attention, although parts of it were a little boring, but the majority of it was interesting.
The chapters are actually by days, and those are broken up by the main characters to-do list, which I think is a really cool way to put a book together! The main character, Mona McGregor, is High Priestess of her coven in a small southern town called Goodnight (based off the founders, Goode & Knight), and she runs a little shop called Midnight Magic. Amidst all this, someone is trying to kill her, and she soon has 2 love interests competing for her heart.
I did not see the ending coming at all even though I know all about werewolves and what goes on with them finding love. That part just caught me blindsided for some reason, which I thought was funny because I screamed out at the kitchen table, and my husband started cracking up laughing.
I didn't like that there were spelling errors, but that's just me being a grammar nut. Who knows, but it wasn't going to stop me from turning the page. I am definitely excited to read her next book, and I'm putting in a request at my local library right after this post. The book is 322 pages, and I read it in a few days. Overall, it's an excellent read, and I'm happy I stumbled upon it. 😊
I thought this book was absolutely amazing! I am not sure why there are such negative reviews on this book as I blew through it. I read it on my Kindle and was at 47% the first night and had to force myself at midnight to put the book down. I then finished it the very next day. I loved that it was based on the author's friend who went through the struggles of infertility just as the main character did. I did enjoy the back and forth banter between Kristen & Josh, the heartache of Sloan's relationship ending, but also the true and raw emotion that was portrayed throughout the book. I was laughing and crying in parts and did not want to finish the book, because it was so good. I have already reserved the second book to find out what happens with Sloan.

I got this book through Netgalley, which I appreciate and thank you, for me to read and give a review. I genuinely did like this book and thought it was well written, but I did not care for the ending. I felt like there was a little warm-up, and then it abruptly ended, and I was left wondering what was going to happen. I'm not sure if there is a second part of the book, which would make sense because it kind of did leave on a cliffhanger. The characters throughout the novel were definitely different and interesting with twists that I was not expecting, so that's a plus. I did like that it was mostly female characters with a really strong emphasis on independence and willpower. I like how the author threw in mental health struggles and how to deal with those emotions. Definitely going to read the second book if there is one!
I love Emily Henry so much, she's such a brilliant author. The story is compelling, touching, heartbreaking, and utterly unbelievably amazing. I could not put this book down and had to make myself stop reading at midnight each night. The ending was amazing and tied right into the start, and I closed the book, smiling. I knew it would be a good book, but I just wasn't prepared for how great it was. A little librarian who gets her heart broken and then put back together again.
Second time reading this book, and it's been years. I definitely forgot how it ended, so a nice surprise again. It's a little slower than I like, but overall I enjoy the books.
I liked this book and knew it would be great since I love everything Ali H. writes. Definitely a different a read from her usual and a little slower, but interspecies must not rush into these things! I'd read this again for sure.
